About Us:

Although the name "Ready Fight Productions" was coined in the late Spring of 2002, the origins of this young film company can be traced back to senior year in high school, 2001. Before their meeting, Adrian and Darren had worked on numerous small projects. Darren and a few of his buddies had made a number of martial arts comedy shorts over the previous 4 years, and Adrian had done many special effects oriented works for his school.

Hung Dinh was attending the same high school as Adrian, and had acquired years of training in Kenpo/Juijitsu. When the three of them met, they decided to combine their talents-- Adrian with his knowledge of special effects, and Darren and Hung with their martial arts experience and knowledge of the genre-- to make something completely new. The first film that came from this alliance was a kung fu short called "Kung Fu Legends." This film combined kung fu action with special effects, and the story was told through the narrative style of a fighting video game. KFL parodied many of the characteristics commonly seen in popular Hong Kong films and Japanese fighting video games.

The first film proved to be a huge leap in technology, aesthetics, and creativity for the group, and was received well by family and friends. One year later, the three decided to try their hands at another film. Their goal was to improve the choreography, special effects, plot, and overall quality of the movie, as well as make it more available to a wider audience by putting it on the web. They decided to make a sequel to "Kung Fu Legends;" one that incorporated a similar video game narrative style, but with an overall better presentation. This new film was titled "Kung Fu Legends II: Turbo Edition." During KFLII's production, the three filmmakers decided to begin establishing themselves as a film production company, and along with actors Scott Gilliland, Sean Des Portes, and Nick Caamano, they created "Ready Fight Productions."

After KFLII's completion, Ready Fight slowly gained recognition not only in their community, but across the country. The film was received so well that Ready Fight decided to continue with the Kung Fu Legends series and turn it into a trilogy, with the final installment called "Kung Fu Legends Zero."

This new project is a big leap from Ready Fight's last film, as its cast jumped from only 5 actors to over 10, and now has a costume/set designer and musical composer. With this new film, Ready Fight continues to try and improve their choreography, special effects, and artistic creativity, and strives to do so with each new film they make.

There are currently no concrete plans as to what will come after KFLZ, as it is still in the pre-production phase. This is, however, the final installment of the KFL series. As for future plans, the group is discussing the possibility of blending different styles within the action genre to find their own niche within the filmmaking world: i.e., incorporating weapons and diversifying their locations, as well as writing more intricate plots and using professional actors. Although the group is young, Ready Fight Productions is confident in their capacity to keep improving, and has no doubt that they will one day leave a great impression upon filmmakers and movie-goers alike.

Current Members of "Ready Fight Productions"

Darren Biggs: Darren Biggs is a student at the University of Arizona and is majoring in Media Arts with a minor in Japanese. He has been involved with making short films since "I got an A" productions of 1996. In the earlier films, he usually choreographed and played supporting characters. He played the character "Darren" in the first Kung Fu Legends, and later played the villain "Kojiro" in the sequel. In KFL2, Darren was co-director with Adrian Sotomayor, did much of the writing, did storyboarding, assisted with some of the editing, and choreographed both fight scenes in collaboration with Hung. Along with working on the third Kung Fu Legends, Darren is currently making a video yearbook for several clubs on campus, and hopes to eventually make wedding/ceremonial videos in the near future.

Moved to Detroit MI at the age of 8, lived in the heart of the ghetto, fighting off whole gangs of crack fiends at a time while on his way to school. Was the only NON - BLACK fellow during his school years in Detroit. Moved back to Tucson AZ where he now resides with his BLACK roommate Nigga Steve (he's black btw). Going to school at Pima Community College where he tries to pimp nasty hoes and raise chickens. Major is MIS (Management Information Systems). He is a slacker/raver/retard(rides the short bus). If your homely and have a vagina and breasts bigger then mine call me 1800dialahoe.

Hung Dinh: Hung Dinh is a student at the UA majoring in prephysiological science and is shooting for pharmacy school… He holds a black belt in Kenpo Karate and has had formal training in both judo and jujitsu. Has appeared in the first and second KFL’s as "Hung" and "Hung Hai." Hung’s main roles are... choreographing... acting... assistant editor and SFX... He produced and edited "The making of..." Hung is currently the president of the UA's Vietnamese Student Association and is single =P

Scott Gilliland: Born on a cold January night, the legend of Scott began. 20 years later he turned 20....that's about it.

Sean Des Portes: Sean is actually speaking in the third person. Sean got involved with the KFL crew after talking to Adrian Sotomayor about playing a role in KFL2. They said that they needed his sex appeal because only comedy sells, and they needed something else to fall back on. Actually, he was needed as the first white person to fight in the KFL series. He says that none of this would be possible without Adrian Sotomayor due to his great special effects. Sean is currently enrolled at Pima College as he is not good enough for the "real college." What will he major in? Nobody knows. He is an active martial artist and weight-lifter.

Adrian Sotomayor: Adrian is a student at the University of Arizona and is a Jr in Computer Science. He became involved with basic video creation in Elementary/Middle School when the program Mario Paint came out for the super nintendo. Using his skills as an avid artist in comic book art, he would create clay animations and short comics for fun. During his freshman year of High School, Adrian entered his school's first annual film festival and received first place in the 'Other' category for best claymation. During his Senior year of High School, Adrian became highly involved with Media as he enrolled in two media classes where he was involved in editing and producing the school's daily announcements. The opportunity of Channel One's Student Produce Week 2001 arose and Adrian created two theme videos for submission. After a surprise call from Channel One in California, Adrian was selected as the Graphics Director and spent two weeks, one in training and following his mentor and the other as the Graphics Director for that week, in California working with 17 other students from around the country to fully manage Student Produced week. After learning a great deal about graphics and technique, Adrian began working with Richard Creith, Darren Biggs, and Hung Dinh to create the first collaboration known as KungFu Legends. He is still aspiring to continue learning graphics and special effects as they plan for the next project.
